Tom is a mischievous boy always planning a scheme or tricking other boys to do his work for him. Other than Tom the main characters are his Aunt Polly who is always scolding him for misbehaving, Tom’s half-brother
Characters (provide descriptions – physical and behavioral) Tom Sawyer- An adventurous, charismatic, young teen. He is constantly seeking thrill and excitement and does whatever he can to achieve it. He lives with his aunt as both of his parents are dead and finds many ways to get in trouble.
The theme of this book is growing up and the loss of innocence, and how children mature and learn right from wrong as they get older. 7. Tom Sawyer: “He had discovered a great law of human action, without knowing it- namely, that in order to make a man or boy covet a thing, it is only necessary to make the thing difficult to obtain.” (p.23) This quote shows how Tom is able to outsmart the other boys into doing his work for him, and is an example of how much of a troublemaker he can be by doing things like this.

Creative Title Mark Twain is known for his controversial writing, most well-known is his novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The novel focuses on Huckleberry Finn, a young, uneducated boy about 13 years of age. Huck has misadventures with some unlikely allies such as; Jim, the previous slave of Huck’s guardian Miss Watson, the Duke and the Dauphin, sneaky thieves who attempt to rob the Wilks sisters, and the most important, Tom Sawyer, Huck’s role model. Huck looks up to Tom the entire novel and is continuously thinking of what Tom would do in the situation. Huck Finn’s character, the use of the river, and the language in the novel are aspects that make the use of the novel necessary in the curriculum.

He also connects the novel with the book The Adventures of Tom Sawyer but notes that they both are independent of each other. Twain use the book Tom Sawyer to feature the characters in this novel in that the events in Tom Sawyer portrayed Huck as a marginal character in St. Petersburg.
Julia Shanley Overton English 11 Honors- Period 4A 10/25/15 Huckleberry Finn Argument Essay Jim, a trusted slave by the household of Widow Douglas, is also a very gullible one. He displays several examples of cockiness, foolishness, and is made out to be some kind of comedic relief in the beginning of the story. When Jim is introduced, he is misinterpreted as non realistic due to his vast unawareness. This is proven many times throughout the book to not be true. Jim is actually one of the most important leading roles in the story due to his countless positivity to make things out to be not as terrible as they seem to be.
