Vince Lombardi Vince Lombardi was a successful person on and off the football field. He was a teacher and a coach that taught a variety of different classes and coached football. Lombardi was a very good coach that won many awards for many different teams. The last thing is that he made an impact to many people off of the playing field. After you get done reading this, you will realize how Vince Lombardi helped the community. Lombardi attended St. Francis Preparatory School for one semester. He started to study law, but then found out that he didn’t like it. After that, he became a Professor at Fordham University and taught Latin, physics, and chemistry. Fordham University was the university that he attended after St. Francis Preparatory School. While teaching, Lombardi was an assistant coach for their football team. In 1956, Lombardi helped NY Giants to a league championship. Two years later, he was asked to be the head coach of the Green Bay Packers. He accepted the job offer and had great success here. In nine seasons, from 1959 to 1967, he led the Packers to five championships of the National Football League and, in the last two seasons, two victories in the first two Super Bowl games. In 1968, Lombardi was put as the Green Bay’s manager. He got bored of this so the following season he went to become the Washington Redskins head coach.
