Historical Battlefield of Missouri
The first Union general that killed during the Civil War died here while fighting to the death. Five hundred and thirty- seven men all died within the same day, killed in battle. Missouri has only six national parks within the state, and here is arguably the best one of all of them. This is the Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, the area that is being preserved for the second most major battle on the west side of the Mississippi River, the area that upholds one of the battles of the bloodiest American War, the Civil War. The Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield is one of the six national parks in Missouri, and it is the only one that commemorates a battle of the Civil War; the battle of Wilson’s Creek. As a matter of fact, it is 5 miles of vast ground that has been preserved in the 1960’s. It is located near Springfield, Missouri, and it is on the west side of the Mississippi River. Additionally, it offers many more benefits to the state of Missouri. The economy is greatly helped with the tourist money it brings in and the jobs it creates. First, the Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield is noted down as one of the six prominent national parks of Missouri. Not only that, it is the salvaged remains of the battlefield during its time in the Civil War. Also, it was a battle over the state of Missouri for the Confederates or the Union, and Missouri was an important state for resources. This shows that this monument has a lot of past history that defines it. Places such as these are honorable, and are historically important areas that can take us back a step back in
