In the essay “Should everyone go to college?” by Owen and Sawhill published in They Say I Say, Owen and Sawhill talks about how people with a degree benefits more than someone without a degree. After reading the essay, the author proved me to be right with the amount of success that comes with having a college degree versus a high school diploma. Individuals with a college degree beat an individual without a college degree in every category. Although, Owen and Sawhill speaks about the benefits of having a college degree, the authors do not think college is for everyone.

Why College? Why College? College is my life long-term goal not only it gives me the opportunity for me to learn new things it also challenges; College also expose me to many different professions in my nursing career. College is important to me because I will be the first in my family to gradated with an Associate of Science to become a Register Nurse, opening many doors in the professional field, help build the numbers of male nurses around the world, and also make my family proud. After college I won’t be receiving a piece of paper with my name on it’s going more than that it help me do become successful in life.
College Isn’t for Everyone "By telling all young people that they should go to college no matter what, we are actually doing some of them a disservice" (Owen). This quote from “Brookings Paper: Is College a Good Investment” goes into detail about how college isn’t for everyone. By educators, parents, and authority figures telling graduating high school seniors that college is necessary, they are limiting the potential of that student’s true skills. College isn’t right for everyone and not everyone wants to go to college.

Either way it has been stated on many occasions.
There is an ample amount of information that leads people to believe that college is a great choice. In Source F, it is shown that, “Adults who graduated from a four-year college believe that, on average, they are earning $20,000 more a year as a result of having gotten that degree. Adults who did not attend college believe that, on average they are earning $20,000 a year less as a result.” Also, provided in Source F, “...55% say it [college] was very useful in helping them prepare for a job or career.” While these statistics are true, the negatives still outweigh the positives.
Over the last decades we have seen growing acceptance of the belief that every American student should go on to college. Arguments are common based on economics. The question that all students do is if college is the best route for them? And how are their getting prepared for other options? Of course, there are also arguments based on the belief that learning in and of itself is a worthwhile endeavor.
Eighteen-year-old Julie was told all her life that if she wanted to become successful in her life then she would have to go to college. Julie knew that she wanted to become a dental hygienist one day, her close family and friends continually told her that only through college she would become a successful person in her career choice. However Julie didn’t know if college was the right choice for her even though everyone expected Julie to go to college, she had many doubts about it. Julie personally thought that one can become successful in much more way ways than just earning a four-year degree. The debate whether everyone should have to go to college constantly spikes up in many conversations.

I believe that it is more beneficial to go to college than not going to college because of better job opportunities that are available after college. If you go to college you further your education and job opportunities with better pay and better benefits will be available to you. Why People Should Not Go to College People should not go to college because is difficult to find out what career choice as a result of the inexperience and little information, the potential loans are overwhelming, and the huge necessity to start working immediately after school. In fact, many high school students go to college because it is expected of them, but that is not a good reason to go. If the students are facing pressure from their parents, friends, or teachers to attend college, but they do not feel ready. A person who wants to attend college should not take on such a large financial and time commitment just to please other people. College is expensive, and it does not make sense to spend money on a college degree if they are unsure of their path.
Going to college world helps you achieve more in the future. Did you know that if you go to college it can help you get better jobs and also better pay, it is also helpful if you have a career you want and colleges teach it you may have a better time getting into what you want your career to be. College graduates earn more and also are more likely to get better jobs in the first place and if you live in america some people really care about that. Data shows that getting a college degree is still a good idea because if you get a college degree you can almost likely get a better job and even a better pay.
Although college is stressful and time consuming , having your dream career, is a huge life achievement. Having a job isn’t the same as having a career “I've learned that making a 'living' is not the same thing as 'making a life”(Maya Angelou). If you sell yourself short by not going to college you’ll end up working just to make ends means not because it's what you enjoy doing, it's due to your family counting on it. Those who go to college will end up having a better future than those who don’t. I agree that going to college is more beneficial because my view on the topic states that in order to have a secure and clear future you must go to college.
