In Michael P.Spradlin’s Into The Killing Seas, two brothers named Patrick and Teddy sneak into a ship and hide in crates. As they wait the ship wrecks and sinks, they get on a piece of wood for safety. They survive the shipwreck but are stranded in an ocean realm and surrounded by ravenous sharks. Not only are they struggling to survive, but a crazed survivor tries to kill them. Not long after, Patrick is nearly killed by a shark when a ship arrives and saves them.

He didn 't have a stable job so when he obtained a job as a police reporter for the New York Tribune his life turned around. He took a position with the Evening Sun, then through his newspaper work he became closely familiar with New York 's poorest and most dangerous neighborhoods. In the 19th century, he started exposing the life of the lower class in New York city. In How the other half lives by Jacob Riis, he discusses how the half that was on top really didn 't care much about other than themselves and how the poor suffer.

Colonialism has played a vital factor in the history of the world since the beginning of time. Oftentimes a country believes they are helping another country to improve their quality of life, whether on a political, everyday, or religious aspect. However, the opposite is true in most cases and the region in need is only harmed by the effects of colonialism. Many authors attempt to address points on colonialism to the public through their literature. In the novel The Poisonwood Bible, Kingsolver utilizes the Price family to relay the message that colonialism often has negative effects on both the natives and the missionaries, as help is not always welcome and most countries believe they are properly functioning independently.
Upton Sinclair was born in Maryland in 1878. Was an American author who wrote more than 100 books. He was involved with socialism which encourage him to write about the meatpacking industries. Eventually he wrote a novel named the jungle resulted in the best-selling novel. When he was little he didn’t have an easy life.
Closer to the end of the book was when he was really the farthest from home, he had a new home living with his uncle and you would've thought that, that would have been his permanent home, from where he didn’t have to run anymore. However, he still ended up having to run from there too because of the war. He never stopped running from any of the homes he had; he even ended up traveling to New York running from his uncle's house, the farthest away from any home he's ever had. Fortunately the home he had in New York was finally a home he could stay in without having to run. He could finally settle down.
After enough convincing, he always comes back… sort of. At one point on page 221, his little companion, named Clover, bites him to make him pass out so he won’t leave again, this also sets them back time wise. However, later in the book on page 322, Leven truly realizes where he needs to be and stands by his decision and trusts his new friends
There are times when he discovers his own inner savage. He joins the hunt with Jack and rest of the group and becomes mesmerized over it, thinking, “hunting was good after all” (p162). He unleashes himself from the restraints of civilization and participates in the killing of Simon. He is, after all, just another innocent boy, a victim of the island. Nevertheless, he does remain as the last remnants of civilization until the ship arrives on the island.

He sulks into the woods, where he learns of fire and eating, and other important senses of survival. Feeling a wish for company, he seeks out a village and finds a cottage with a small family, but is instantly met with the same exile like treatment he received from Victor. After being abused by the villagers, he runs to the forest again. Shelly describes part of this journey in chapter 16, “Nature decayed around me, and the sun became heartless; rain and snow poured;…the surface of the earth was hard and chill, and bare, and I found no shelter.” (Shelly, 83).
Literally and figuratively, he flew away, leaving his assumptions and misfortunes behind. Although this example may be supernatural, it is important to wait to make judgements, for in the end, the assumed’s misfortune may truly be unwarranted and
