In Of Mice and Men it was ok for George to kill Lennie because he was doing it for Lennie’s good, it showed in the symbolism of Candy’s dog and it was for the betterment of George’s future . If he didn’t Lennie would either been shot or had to rot away in a mental institution. First George shot Lennie for Lennie’s own good.
George made the heart-wrenching decision to kill his best friend, Lennie Small. Killing Lennie is justified throughout the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck because if George did not kill Lennie, then Lennie would’ve had a slow, painful death, due to the fact the Curly is furious at Lennie for murdering his wife. “Curley gon’ta wanna get ‘im lynched,”says Candy (Steinbeck 94). Candy's dog is a blind, deaf old dog that cannot even walk with ease, and does not eat food. After Carlson shot Candy’s dog Candy says “I ought to of shot that dog myself”(Steinbeck 61).
In the book “Mice and Men” the two main characters George and Lennie were faced with many challenges and decisions. The one decisions everyone is talking about it when George Choose to Shoot Lennie. Some think this was a wrong decision and some think it was the right decision. I personally think that is wasn't a smart decision for George to shoot Lennie. One reason I believe that it was a bad reason for George to kill Lennie is that they had the chance for the other men such as Slim to just turn him into the law.
In the book, Of Mice and Men, George kills Lennie. But before this happens, Slim encourages George to kill Lennie. He should have not done this. This would be difficult for George to live through because Lennie is George's best friend, mentally disabled, and Georges muscle.
In the book Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck, I believe that George did make the right decision to shoot Lennie, because of the relationship that they had. Previously learning from the experience Candy had when he let someone else shoot his dog, George knew that shooting Lennie was his job to do. In chapter three Candy says "I ought to of shot that dog myself, George. I shouldn 't ought to of let no stranger shoot my dog." , (John Steinbeck, 1973, p.58), this really impacted Georges decision on giving someone else the ability to shoot him.
In John Steinbeck’s novel Of Mice and Men, George and Lennie are extremely close friends. George always looked out for Lennie. Lennie always stayed with George because he has no other family besides his aunt who passed away. George and Lennie moved to a new ranch in California. Things were going pretty satisfying until Lennie’s disappointing actions led them into a tight position.
One reason George should not have killed Lennie because everything that happened, was an accident. Lennie did not mean to kill Curley’s wife or the puppy. Lennie only meant to keep her quiet , not kill her.
In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck many hard decisions were made. In this novel two Characters George and Lennie get kicked out of their last city and travel to soledad to start their new life. Lennie causes lots of commotion at the ranch which turns people against George and Lennie. At the end of the novel George kills Lennie which raises the question if he fairly weighed all of the options and if his choice was justified or condemned. One reason why this was a justified decision is that George only wanted the best for his best friend.
In Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck there were two main characters George and Lennie. Lennie was a huge guy but he had no sense of what he was doing, he was mentally retarded. George was the complete opposite of Lennie he was small and smart. George had to take care of Lennie and make sure he always stayed out of trouble. As the book progresses, more and more incidents occur.
From the day that Lennie’s Aunt Clara died and from the day George took Lennie in as a friend George was always there for him. If Lennie did not have George, Lennie would have no one to protect him and save him from all of the bad things that he has done. Despite all of the dangers and problems Lennie got George and himself into, George benefited and also learned from Lennie’s mistakes. George needs his ignorant sidekick as much as Lennie needs George.
The main reason George killed Lennie is because Lennie would have killed somebody again. And the evidence is clearly there, the pet mice that he killed, the poor puppy that he accidently hit to hard, and especially Curley’s wife. He almost killed the girl in weed if he had gone any further. The sad thing is is that he doesn't know how strong he really is, nor does he know what he’s done wrong in the first place.
Some people might think in the opposite side that George should not killed Lennie because Lennie did not mean to anything. He has done it without knowing how strong of himself. Lennie made many troubles this might be because of his disability, but this is the reason that he deserves to live. He has done many thing that make George get into trouble and It is better if Lennie has to die because of George shoot him not the other. "All the time he coulda had such a good time if it was not for you” (Steinbeck).
