Why Should I Be Considered For This Program Essay

I believe I should be considered for this program because I have worked tirelessly, through various hardships, since I began my route towards my career in agricultural education. Ever since my sophomore year in high school I knew I was going to become an Agricultural Education teacher. While in high school I accumulated around 30 college credits through dual enrollment and direct enrollment at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After graduation, I attended UNL for four consecutive years. My education at UNL wasn’t exactly like other Agricultural Education instructors in Nebraska. Since I was so proactive of my education while I was in high school, I was on track to graduate college at the age of 19 years old. I was highly advised to add additional teaching endorsements to my degree because I would be too young to be a teacher, in which I agreed. So I added Horticulture and Biology Education to my endorsement list. To make a long story short, a normal UNL Ag Ed student will graduate with 120 credits. I worked for UNL athletics with the Track and Field Program, Menards as a sales associate, Abel/Sandoz Facilities as a mechanic, and as a resident assistant for UNL Housing. A majority of these jobs I worked at the same time. Through all of my work experiences I managed to finish both my biology and agricultural teaching practicums and my student teaching experience in Biology and Agriculture. Since a majority of my financial aid went to my schooling, I had to constantly keep working in order to save up my money for personal expenses and for student teaching. As a college student from a poor divorced family I had to pay for my phone bill, car payments, insurance, and I never got any financial help from either of my parents. If I didn’t constantly work my whole college career I definitely wouldn’t be where I am
