Should Friar Lawrence face legal and social consequences to his actions? Yes, he should. Not only did Friar Lawrence not tell Romeo and Juliet’s parents at the end when it was too late. He also married Romeo and Juliet in secret, gave Juliet a vial which is considered a drug and lastly made a plan that was not well planned out and even though Friar Lawrence got what he wanted but it wasn’t in the way he planned, because the kids that he used both ended up dead at the end and he only ended up telling the parent when the church was at risk. Firstly, Romeo and Juliet were both minors. Since they were both minors Friar Lawrence would have needed to tell their parents because the “Law of Consent” states that minors can not get married without parental consent. Even if Romeo and Juliet’s parents gave consent, Juliet is not even old enough to get married as a minor. It is illegal to give a child any type of drug. Not only Friar Lawrence could have gotten in trouble but also Juliet could have gotten in trouble, he put him and Juliet in trouble with law. Also it was dangerous for Juliet and himself. First of all Friar Lawrence could have mixed wrong also he probably would not know how Juliet’s body would handle the vial. Friar Lawrence could have gone to jail for over a year and/or fine up to $2,500 and/or 12 months of probation. Or Juliet could have gone to jail if she was caught with the drug. Also if something would have gone wrong so if Juliet would have died Friar Lawrence could go to jail for manslaughter since it wasn’t his motive, his plan was not to kill Juliet but to end the rivalry between the Capulets and Montagues. He could have just told Romeo and Juliet’s parents instead of making a plan on faking Juliet’s death which could have gone completely wrong. If so Friar Lawrence could have gotten worse or even more
