Why Small Towns Are Better Than Big Cities

Do you enjoy fresh air, and being closer to the country? Or do you enjoy pollution, and maybe even driving one hour or more to go be out in the country? Don’t you think it would be nice to run into people and get a smile and a “hey, how are you?” Wouldn’t you be relieved knowing your kids will make it home safe, rather then being left wondering if the last thing you said to them could be the last words that they ever get to hear from you? In a small town that isn’t very likely, small towns are cleaner,friendlier, and safer than big towns. Small towns are by far better than big cities.

In the article “Small Towns vs Cities” Dave Duffy states, “The city paper is full of murders and scandals, while the small town paper contains grammar school and high school awards and events,”. Big cities are full of dangerous gang rivalries; just coming home from a long day at work you don’t know what could happen to you. Though in a small town, you know you can travel home in safety with no risk due to a small town’s way of life. According to city-data.com the risk of kidnapping or getting raped has a extremely high percentage for large cities; whereas, in a small town there is a very slim percentge. Not only are there high risk of crime, in a city, there is also a higher car crash rating due to high traffic; traffic that just doesn’t occur in small town areas. “The chance of a car accident for everyone in New York is an accident every 7.3 years,” according to Auto Crashes.com. Considering how big the population is, that adds up to hundreds of car crashes daily. Therefore not only are your young teens safer driving in a smaller town, but so are you, and everyone around you; saving multiple lives.
