Teen activists are like real life super heroes. Activists are people who notice something that needs to change for the better and does something to help change it. Anyone can become an activist, someone could become an activist naturally-or because activism was thrown upon them. (wikihow.com) Wikihow may not be a very reliable source seeing as it is from the creator of Wikipedia. Many teens become anti-bullying activist. Teens become anti-bullying activist for many reasons: the teen has a been victim of bullying and don’t want it to happen to others, the teen has seen or heard of bullying stories and want to help stop bullying, or the teen simply know that bullying is wrong and needs to be stopped. Mackenzie lives in Airdrie, Canada. She too was bullied before she wanted to become an anti-bullying activist. Although, she almost took her own life at fourteen years old because of bullying. The suicide rates among ten to fourteen year olds have grown more than 50% over the last three years according to the American Association of Suicidology. (makebeatsnotbeatdowns.org)When thought about, that is a lot of children committing suicide due to bullying. Mackenzie showed her mom a video made by Amanda Todd, because she couldn’t properly described her own feelings. Amada Todd was a girl that took her own life at fifteen years old because of severe bullying. As a result of the bullying Amanda put a video describing how she was bullied and why, on YouTube. (nobullying.com)Mackenzie decided to become an anti-bullying activist. She got help from the mayor of Airdrie and the rest of the city. With the help of the mayor she made an anti-bullying bylaw, which was adopted in September 2013. Which shows that some people become anti-bullying activists because they have been bullied just like Marcel and Mackenzie. Both activists are amazing superheroes.
