Jeannette Walls in The Glass Castle and her siblings had a lot of trouble fitting in and trying to avoid being bullied. When Jeannette lived in Welch, West Virginia, as always, her family didn’t have money. Jeannette lived a poor life because of this; she never got the nicest shoes, got the nicest clothes that made her look cool, or be considered the cleanest person in the school since she didn’t take a shower because of the lack or running water in her house. Jeannette often had to eat the leftover food from a trash can that people would throw away because her family couldn’t provide her food. Thankfully unlike my previous school I attended, the kids that go to Liberty Benton are a bunch of prima donnas. Meaning, I was never pushed around and beaten up. The kids here use their popularity to bring you down because they turn everyone against you for something that happened once. They would notice small details that I used and turn it against me, like when I get nervous I stutter my words. So, instead of embarrassing myself in front of the whole school even more, I kept quiet and didn’t talk much unless I was required to speak. The friends I started talking to were the people that also were brought down by the popular kids. I had nothing in common with these people and wanted to leave as soon as I met them. I would try to fit in again with the popular kids by acting out. By doing this, Mr. England and Mrs. Eirich didn’t like me. Me and Anthony sat next to each other in Mrs. Eirich class and would make jokes the entire period and we’d get yelled at to be quiet.
