Charlie came skipping back inside with a razor-sharp ice sickle and waved it in Jo Ann’s face. She shoved him outside and shut the door but Charlie slashed the screen door apart with the sickle. Jo Ann had no doubt in her mind that her cousin was going to kill her. Thankfully, her parents showed up during the action and Charles only got whipped. From 1958, Manson was in and out of jail for a variety of offenses, including "pimping" and passing stolen checks, and he was sent to McNeil Island prison in Washington State for 10 years. During this time he had also raped a fellow male prisoner while brandishing a razor. In 1967, he was released and moved to San Francisco. The first victim of the family was Gary Hinman, followed by 6 more in the next few months. Displeased with the murders, Manson went on a search for more victims. He came across a couple at a supermarket and the couple was brutally murdered. In October of that year, Manson and his followers are arrested elsewhere, on suspicion of auto theft. They were convicted and the jury finds all of the defendants guilty on January 25, 1971. Manson is denied parole for the 12th time in 2012. According to the California Parole Board, he has accrued 108 mysterious disciplinary violations in prison since 1971 and has shown no remorse for the murders.
