Julius Caesar was very important because he helped Rome accomplish victory in many battle and wars, which include the conquest of Gaul and the Roman civil war when Julius Caesar crossed the Rubicon. The conquest of Gaul was shortly after Caesar became governor of Gaul. Gaul was the area of land, which was south of the Alps and to the east of the Apennine mountains to as far as the Rubicon River. At the start it wasn’t even Caesar 's plan to capture Gaul, but the country Rumania, which was a country rich with precious metals. So Caesar looked forwards towards conquering the lands north of Italy, which made his first task putting together an army. Over the next couple years he put together ten legions, with approximately fifty thousand soldiers, with ten-twenty thousand allied soldiers to back his army up. What Julius Caesar did was he destroyed the bridge at Geneva and blocked the road along the Rhine, which slow down the Helvetian tribe from advancing, and then he and his army went over the Alps and met them only to defeat them in battle during the month of July. After this a large force of Germans crossed the Rhine then came into the Roman part of Gaul. Their leader Ariovistus was an ally of Rome, but who was attaching the Gallic tribe Aedui who was also an alley of Rome. So Caesar ended up siding with the Aedui. During the battle, the Germans were the larger army but Caesar felt confident fighting them anyway. In battle the Germans lost and a lot of them were killed. Eventually after that Julius Caesar fights another battle with The Nervii a tribe of the Celtic Belgae, attacks Germany and Britain, and wins the battle of Alesia before finally taking over
