In the early 20th century, there was a large amount of conflict. This conflict was mainly centered in Europe and North America. Tension began to build between countries. This tension finally snapped and sent the world down a quarrelsome path. Countries called upon their allies to bring aid and fighting ensued. Everyone had their own agendas. The imperialistic ideas of countries and the nationalistic ideas of people came crashing together and created an era of history never to be forgotten. The First World War was fought through alliances. Some countries joined the war simply because their allies were attacked, even if they didn’t want to fight. Most European governments fought for their allies without hesitation. Sometimes, these nations had different motives. Several countries wanted to expand past their borders and gain from the war. People within these countries had different views from their governments. Predominantly, citizens within these countries wanted the fighting to be over so their lives could return to normal. For years beforehand, people had lived the American dream. Everyone was buying houses, owning cars, and starting families. People spent money without a care in the world. If someone didn’t have enough money to buy something, they would take a loan from the bank. When the banks’ loans started to pile up, everyone fell into debt. None could afford to buy anything. People couldn’t take out anymore loans because there was no money left. The nation became consumed with debt. Everyone spent their money chasing an American dream. People drove themselves into debt just to be as American as possible. The US spent all their resources trying to fix the Great Depression. They had no time for any out of country affairs. With such turmoil brewing inside the country, how could the US divide its resources on anything
