NASA is a government funded space exploration society that has recently been refunded and a lot of people have mixed feelings towards the government using money that could be used towards more useful problems that our society has today. But, people don’t realize how important it is towards the development of our society to keep NASA funded and not only what could happen in the future, but you have to look at what NASA has accomplished in the past and what inventions they have made that progressed and helped our society. Some people have looked into some of the inventions and progress that NASA has made in the past and look towards the future of what could happen if we continue to fund NASA to try and convince people who believe that NASA is …show more content…
If we continue to fund NASA then it would most likely improve future generations to study more about science and engineering which in total would overall benefit our society because it would allow us to focus more on learning about our world and with engineering we could figure out more inventions that could benefit our future and with that it would also allow us to further space exploration for our society. Miozzi made a good point towards to the cost of NASA, he said “1963-1969 were the only years in history that NASA received over 2% of the total budget”. So this means that means that if we do continue to fund NASA, they will most likely not go over that 2% unless they are preparing to launch a huge mission like the mission to mars …show more content…
In 2011 NASA alone used 43 million dollars of taxpayer money to maintain more than 33 buildings that were not being used to their full potential which lead to a waste of money. Cobb, Douglas made a good point towards NASA wasting money,”Over 80 percent of the NASA facilities are over 40 years old, and have worn out their original usage. What's more, in 2012, the backlog's cost, alone, of the "deferred maintenance projects" of NASA was estimated to be $2.3 billion”. In 1980 NASA built the largest plane man has ever built but it only managed to get 70 feet above ground to only land back down on the ground and waste millions of dollars for the failed project. NASA has failed so many projects that it covers up a lot of the best inventions and historical events that had occurred while they were in there
