Hatshepsut’s Story Hatshepsut was a very significant individual in Ancient Egypt, as she believed that if she chose to live her life as a pharaoh and not a queen, she would get more respect like her father Tuthmosis l did. Hatshepsut was able to be the first female pharaoh and rule successfully. Although Hatshepsut wasn’t the only female pharaoh, she was the most common known one in ancient Egypt. The purpose of this report is to inform the reader about how Hatshepsut ruled and all her successful achievements that helped to shape Ancient Egyptian society. Hatshepsut had many achievements such as being the first female pharaoh in her dynasty and in ancient Egypt, She ruled for a successful 22 years before dying.
Mummification was a very important part of the ancient egyptians religion. Mummification is a process in which the skin and flesh of a corpse can be preserved. The reason why the ancient egyptians thought this was so important was because it was supposed to help them get to the afterlife. On a normal day in ancient Egypt, an Egyptian could be found sometime during the day kneeling in front of a statue or altar, lighting incense and praying to their gods and goddesses. I have always enjoyed the art of cosmetology because it helps bring out people's features, makes them feel more confident, and there's always different looks for everyone. I remember when I would get my hair done, being so intrigued by the art that came from it. How changing the color of someone's hair can change there whole look, or how a simple haircut can bring out certain face features. When I first started doing hair and makeup, I was not very good, but the more I kept practicing the better I got. On the other hand I have always been pretty good with doing hair.
For this year’s National History Day project, we chose egyptian mummification. Mummification is an important tradition in early Egypt. The Egyptians believed in preserving the royal family to be remembered eternally. King Tuttakanah’s undecayed carcass discovered by Howard Carter reflects Egyptian tradition and provides ancient religious aspects of the Egyptians. We want to educate our peers with the knowledge we’ve learned from exploring mummification.

In the same way, since pharaohs were considered as god-like beings, only royalty could wear eye shadow. The idea of eye shadow only changed after it reached Greece and Rome. When the application of eye shadow become for beauty instead of religion, it lost its original purpose.
