Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche was born October 15, 1844, he was the son of Karl Ludwig and Franziska Nietzsche. Karl Ludwig Nietzsche was a Lutheran Minister in the small Prussian town of Röcken, near Leipzig (Beardsley, 1992). When Friedrich was about five years old, his father Karl had fell down the stairs which the family felt caused a brain hemorrhage causing his death at the age of 35. His death left his mother Franziska, Friedrich, his three-year old sister, Elisabeth, and an infant brother named Ludwig Joseph. Friedrich’s brother Ludwig died unexpectedly from what his mother called camps while teething, but it was probably epilepsy. These events leaft young Friedrich the only male in a household, a household that included his mother, sister, paternal grandmother and an aunt. Friedrich gained admittance to the prestigious Schulpforta, where he received Prussia’s finest preparatory education in the Humanities, Theology, and Classical Languages. Outside school, Friedrich Nietzsche founded a literary and creative society with classmates. In addition, Friedrich played piano very well, and composed his own music, he also was great student on contemporary and classical music (by Kaufmann, 1974).
