From 2000 to 2015, clothing production has doubled from 100 to 200 billion units per year, while the amount of times an item is worn has decreased by 36%, said by Earth.org. Fast fashion has made a huge impact on the environment for decades now and we need to resolve this matter. People purchase clothing without knowing the backstory of how that product was produced and what environment it was made in. Due to fast fashion being cheap and easy to get, people do not seem to care what goes on behind the scenes. Fast fashion affects the environment and climate change massively. In the article Will a ´Fashion Pact´ Make Fashion Greener?, it states ¨To combat the climate crisis, the signatories commit to implementing ''science-based targets'' that could contribute to achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. These may include sustainable sourcing of key raw materials, and 100 percent use of renewable energy within supply chains by 2030.¨ This quote explains that by committing to this fashion pact we will be able to overcome these issues. Like I said before, the fashion industry is 10% of global CO2 emission and is responsible for 25% of global warming. So by reducing and achieving zero gas emissions would be a great turn around for the environment.
