I feel that I have developed a multitude of qualities that will make me a successful osteopathic physician in the future. These personal qualities have been developed mainly through my volunteer experiences, as well as my academic endeavors. Through my volunteer work, I believe that I have developed an extremely high quality level of compassion, especially in regards to working with people in underserved communities. I have continuously been developing this quality through my work at both the Moses E. Cheeks Slam Dunk Basketball Diabetes Camp and the Will-Grundy Free Medical Clinic. Both of these experiences gave me the opportunity to volunteer first-hand with some of the most underserved populations in the Midwest region. These opportunities have opened my eyes to the disparity of healthcare in this country and have led me to have a very strong interest in serving these types of populations. In addition to this compassion, I have also developed more tangible organizational skills through my work at the Will-Grundy Medical Clinic. I believe that my undergraduate degree in history has allowed me to have a more diverse and broader outlook on the world, which would help me more easily connect with patients from a variety of backgrounds.
