Before reading the article “Will there ever be another NCAA Football Video Game?” written by Darren Rovell I was asked to decide whether I thought if there would ever be another NCAA football video game. While reading the article I noticed the author mention that there was a very slim chance of a successful NCAA to ever be unleashed again. After reading Darren Rovell’s article ”Will there ever be another NCAA Football Video Game?”, I believe that there will not be anymore NCAA football video games. One of the many reasons that I believe that there will not be any more NCAA football video games is because the video game manufacturers are not willing to pay the athletes for their likenesses. Stated in Rovell’s article, “The settlement which produced roughly $1,000 per player was for that class, resulting to around a total of ten million dollars spread throughout colleges nationwide (Rovell).” After all the student athletes have been paid for their likenesses in the video game, it would no longer be worthwhile for the large video game manufacturer to create …show more content…
Also stated in Rovell’s article, “But beyond securing the licenses, it will be hard to make a quality game and set up distribution similarly to what EA had accomplished ( Rovell).” Ever since EA has lost the right to make college sport games exclusively, it would take a large video game manufacturer to step out of their comfort zone, which very few companies are brave enough to do. Along with the unlikeliness of a large enough company to step up to the plate to give the college sports scene a try, it would be a very hard task to make as good quality of a game as EA has in the past. As a result of no new company to take the place of EA Sports in recent years, I believe it has lead to my next reason that a new NCAA video game will never come
