William Blake portraits a broad image of stereotypical society through his poems, in order to give a message to the society to pursue their lives in serving poor and needy. He is very much concern about the rituals of the religious world. William Blake gives the message to follow the spiritual life rather than to follow the narrow belief system of the religious world. The main theme of his work reveals the idea that our real strength of life relies in serving humanity because if we ignore the poor people around us, we are ignoring the God. The idea here is to recognize the face of God in the broken minds of people. William Blake says that we are not able to please God without caring about the extreme poverty around us. We cannot designate a nation (especially William Blake considering England) as a develop country until we are not able to solve the problem of poverty around us. For example: “Is that trembling cry a song? /Can it be a song of Joy?……. eternal winter there” (LL 5-12). These lines put the question on the mentality of our society that we are not understanding the hidden grief of poor people and we indulge in the made race of hoarding more and more money in our life. The meaning of these lines to give hope to those who lose their faith in life because hope helps the human to fight with adverse situations of life. We need to think before we eat every single bite of our meals throughout the day, that there are many poor and suffering people around us those who are striving even for a single drop of water. Giving money is not an act of charity and never be enough to fulfil their starvation because they are striving for our kind words. The hunger of words only fulfilled by unconditional love and acceptance.
