William Golding is debateably one of the best authors in the history of literature. Starting from a young age, growing up in high school, and going into college, Golding had a talent. His talent was the ability to write. Golding has received many outstanding awards throughout his career in teaching as well as writing. Golding grew up with parents that wanted him to follow in their path. He decided that was not the path for him. Instead he decided to pursue his dream of writing. Even though he was rejected over twenty times, he still had the courage to keep pushing himself farther and farther so that he could achieve excellence. Columb Minor in Newquay, Cornwall, United Kingdom was a boy named William Golding. This village is located on the southwest most part of the United Kingdom, right next to the Celtic Sea. William Golding’s dad, Alec, had very radical beliefs and was a schoolmaster with a strong faith in science. His mom, Mildred, was a supporter in the British suffragette movement. This movement involves citizens that had radical beliefs (Liukkonen, Petri). His mother was apart of the movement to allow women the right to vote. He grew up as a child following his parents beliefs and doing pretty much everything that they told him to do. He was pressured by his parents, probably because they were more on the strict side and because of their beliefs. He was pretty much brought up to be a scientist, but he did not have any interest in being one. Instead he had an interest in literature. He had an interest in writing early on in his life, more specifically when he was about seven years old (Liukkonen, Petri). Not many others have the ability to start writing at such a young age and have the ability to accomplish what William Golding did. He did not know at that time, though, that he would be writing for his job and he would become a world known
