The novel, “Lord of the Flies” is a fictional story written by William Golding, about a group of schoolboys from Britain being stranded on a deserted tropical island. The novel focuses on the boys attempting to govern themselves while revealing the human nature hidden in the boys. I felt that this book does an excellent job at showcasing the raw nature of humans as it uses many of the characters to demonstrate a side of humans. Ralph is the protagonist of the novel and represents the civilized instinct as opposed to the novels antagonist Jack who represents the instinct of savagery with human beings.
