William Lloyd Garrison introduces The Liberator, 1831 Every great movement that has ever occurred, never magically created itself into existence. On the contrary, these revolutionary acts occurred through the combination of many aspects. One of the most important aspects, is the many individuals who decided that they were willing to fight for what they believed was right. An example of someone who decided that they would fight for what they felt was right, is William Lloyd Garrison. In Garrison's introduction of The Liberator he passionately advocates for the abolition of slavery. Garrison's essay is significant because it gave a voice to the oppressed, it is an article that showcases change within oneself, and an article that makes a relentless demand for change.

It shows the growth and change that occurred within a person, William Lloyd Garrison. However, at the same also showcases the change that was occurring to many individuals in the society of that time. For many decades now individuals all over the world were becoming more and more wary of slavery. Garrison's article showcases the transition from not only being against it, but individuals were now getting the desire to actually do something, and act towards the immediate abolition of slavery. Additionally, the article gave a more prominent voice to the oppressed slaves, the voice of a white man carried more power and an ability to influence others, than did the voice of an African American.
