I grin, twirling in front of the mirror, checking for creases on my dress, but when I notice one on my back, my smile falters and my eyebrows furrow in annoyance. I check the time and realize that it is too late to iron it now, William will be here any minute. William loves you, he will not care about a miniscule wrinkle on your dress, I remind myself.
I hastily put on the diamond encrusted earrings he gifted me with on our second anniversary, and give myself a final glance before running to the door upon hearing the sound of the doorbell. I skip down the stair feeling giddy inside. Three years into our marriage and I still feel like a teenage girl who just laid her eyes on the school’s football captain.

“I missed you today,” I admit and put the roses in the already water filled vase. It was a tradition for William to get me a huge set of roses on every anniversary, so to save time I always have the vase ready. I turn back to look at William who's already staring at me.
