Many authors have had a long lasting impact because of their literary work. During the Elizabethan time period, William Shakespeare began his remarkable career as a playwright impacting theater and poetry around the world. William Shakespeare’s life and work changed the way we read and write literature today.

William Shakespeare’s personal life during his childhood was uneventful. On the website “Biography.com,” Shakespeare has no birth records, but church records indicate he was baptized in Stratford, England on April 26, 1564. Placing his birthday on April 23, 1564. In “William Shakespeare: Life of Drama,” a documentary produced by Rob Caird, Shakespeare was born into a high standing social class family, allowing him to attend the King’s New School, in Stratford. According to the article “William Shakespeare,” published by Gale Biography in context, Shakespeare learned his latin, grammar, and writing skills here. Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway on November 28, 1582, at the age of 18 ( Biography.com). Before marriage, Shakespeare had impregnated Hathaway, who was eight years older (Mabillard). Together they had three children, two girls and a boy ( Biography.com). Hamnet, Shakespeare’s only son, died at the age of 11, leaving Shakespeare with no heir (Gale). It is believed that Shakespeare’s failed marriage had inspired ideas for his characters and stories (Caird). In the late 1580’s, Shakespeare left his family and moved to London to pursue a career in theater (Biography.com). No one knows for sure when shakespeare started his career in theatre (Mabillard).There are seven years of Shakespeare’s life that there are no records, they are referred to as “the lost years”(Biography.com). Shakespeare died on his birthday in 1616 at the age of 52 (Caird).
