Shakespeare once said “To climb steep hills requires a slow pace at first.” This quote is relevant because Shakespeare became famous by starting out slow and then became very famous by the time of his passing. Shakespeare is one of the greatest writers of all time but some people don’t know his background which can be equally important. The start, middle and end of his life have a huge impact on his writing and the way that he was himself. Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564 and three days later he was baptized on April 26, 1564. In his family he was born the 3rd child, first and second were two girls, he had 3 younger brothers and one younger sister. There were only four of his siblings that lived to see their adulthood, Judith and his three older brothers. When he was 18 he married Anne Hathaway, she was 26 at the time and pregnant with their first child Susanna. He had a total of three children, Susanna was the oldest, Judith and Hamnet were the youngest and they were also twins. His first poem that he wrote was recorded to be “Venus and Adonis”. He left his family for about twenty years to continue writing and he only came back for the 40 day lent period. On March 25, 1616 it is said that he revised his will for the belongings that would be left behind. Less than a month later he died on his birthday, april 23, 1616. He was later buried at the Holy Trinity Church in Stratford. In his will he left his belongings to his wife and eldest daughter Susanna. On his tombstone he had them write his last words “Good friends, for Jesus’ sake forbeare to dig the dust enclosed here! Blest be ye man that spares these stones and curst be he that moues my bones.” These words were put there to curse anyone who tried to move his bones from their burial
