Many great authors take their tragic experiences in life to influence their novels, plays, and books. William Shakespeare dramatic plays and poems has influenced so many generations of literature work by authors globally. William Shakespeare, through his classical plays and novels, expresses his life and difficulties within. Through having a difficult childhood, the death of his son Hamnet shown in the play Hamlet. William was born to John Shakespeare, a tradesman and a glove maker, and Mary Arden, a land heiress. He became the third child out of a family eight, including two older sister , Joan and Judith, who didn't live past infancy and three younger brothers, Gilbert, Richard and Edmund. Eventually he became the oldest surviving child because his two younger sisters, Anne and Joan, dies at the age of seven. Even though Aguilar 2 Shakespeare wasn't born into a family of wealth or nobility, his father was able to obtain an official position as an alderman thus becoming a successful merchant. Unfortunately, it didn't take long and around the 1570s the Shakespeare family fortune declined. Even though Shakespeare wasn’t wealthy it is believed through records that he attended the King’s New School, a local grammar school, teaching . Due to Shakespeare’s father financial decline, he wasn’t able to attend a university but that didn’t stop him from becoming the most influential author of generations. In the 1601 classical play Hamlet, Shakespeare introduces young Hamlet mourning over the murder of his father and can’t seem to let pass how fast his mother moved on by marrying the brother of his father. “Throughout the play Hamlet battles with his inner emotions on whether to accept the reality or to avenge the death of his father committed by his own brother”(Holgate 83). He introduces a new way of writing, a dark mournful eventually contemplating a suicidal thought. William Shakespeare was influenced to write this play in the memory of his son’s death Hamnet, quiet similar to Hamlet’s name in the play. Throughout the play Shakespeare is referring back to when his son’s death and he was battling with his inner emotions to accept the death. Although the death of his son is unknown, we can assume that the death might have been caused and Shakespeare wanted to revenge the death. The queen in play could be referring back to the Anne Hathaway on getting over the death of the king but in this case it would be the death of her own son. Other theorize that it was Shakespeare mourning the death of his own father, who passed away in 1601 the same time when he wrote Hamlet. Both theories are unknown but Aguilar
