Some think that he died from syphilis, typhoid, influenza, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, etc. However, another interesting theory is that someone murdered him. William Shakespeare’s death will forever remain a mystery, but there are many conclusions and evidence to back it up.
Shakespeare was a poet, playwright, and a performer on stage over 400 years ago. He wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets. While Shakespeare is not only known for his poetry, he also is known for his writing in plays. Shakespeare got the start to his writing career in 1592. The genres he stuck to were comedy, tragedy, and history when writing plays. When he switched over to writing poetry he stuck to sonnets that had a rhyme scheme and themes such as love and lust, selfishness and greed, self-deprecation and inadequacy, homoerotic desire, financial bondage, and color symbolism (Shakespeare's Sonnets).
Early Life: William Shakespeare was born either on or before April 23, 1564 in the tiny town of Warwickshire, Stratford-upon-Avon which is in the country England. No one really knows the exact date of his birthday. 3 days after his birthday on April 26, 1564, Shakespeare was baptized, this is the 6th year Queen Elizabeth I was in reign of England (Britannica School, Encyclopedia Britannica). At four years of age he attended school, and at 6 years of age he went to the local free grammar school (Teague 16).
William Shakespeare led a very interesting life. He was considered to be one of the greatest English writers to ever exist. His entire life was devoted to the public theater. One thing that stands out the most about Shakespeare is that most of his writings were very dramatic. He only wrote non dramatics poetry when the closing of the theater made writing plays very impractical (William 1).
He wrote at least thirty-seven plays that are known of. Some to being, Tragedies plays were “Hamlet” and “Romeo and Juliet”, comedies “The Tempest” and “Much Ado about Nothing” and histories King John, Richard III, and Henry VII. Shakespeare began writing his sonnets by introducing his four most important themes being- immortality, time and selfishness. Later years of Shakespeare’s life known as the “lost years,” it is to believe that he arrived in London in the mid-to the late 1580s and might have found work as a horse attendant.
The Middle English period, though the dates are estimated at 1100-1500, began with the Norman Conquest in 1066. The Norman Vikings brought with them an influx of French words and, eventually, French took over as the official language of government. For a short time, the English language was on a decline, until 1204 when King John lost Normandy to the French and English began to rise again. By the mid-14th century, at the time of Geoffrey Chaucer, The Hundred Years’ War was promoting nationalism in England and creating an even bigger divide between English and French. England did not want to be speaking the same language as her enemy.
