Elder Shawn William Wright was born on August 6, 1982 and is a native of Charlottesville, VA. He is the son of Pastor James W. Wright, Sr. and First Lady Carolyn Napier Wright. In the year 2000, Eld. Wright graduated with honors from Charlottesville High School. He continued his education at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. While attending JMU, Eld. Wright was a Resident Advisor for Garber Hall, where he led a Men's Bible Study for the student residents. Furthermore at JMU, Eld. Wright served as the Director of the Inspirational Ensemble, Assistant Director of the Contemporary Gospel Singers, and Co-Founder of Men of a Melody. God increasingly equipped Eld. Wright for ministry as he sat under the tutelage of the late Bishop Charles Thomas, Sr. at New Life Ministries in Bridgewater, VA. During his college years, Eld. Wright accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior during a Revival service and was baptized on September 12, 1993 at his family's home church of Oak Hill Baptist Church, in Massies Mill, VA. At the age of 18, Eld. Wright was filled with Holy Ghost at Winterfest Youth Explosion in Knoxville, TN. In June 2002, at the age of 19, he acknowledged his call into ministry and was licensed by his father as a Minister of the Gospel on September 7, 2002 at Cedar Grover Baptise Church. Not long after his formal licensing, Eld Wright began traveling and preaching the Gospel at revivals, youth services, and conferences, in addition to teaching Adult Bible Study classes and directing the Youth Choir at Cedar Grove Baptist
