As a PBS and PLC school, Willow Springs emulates the qualities that have striven to initiate and participate in developing during my previous and current teaching positions. That’s why I was eager to apply when I saw the position open for a third grade teacher at Willow Springs Elementary.
While my previous contract positions were for special education positions, I have consistently worked with the general education population. I qualified and ready to conquer different challenges. My qualifications include 4 years of elementary teaching experience. In this most recent position as special education elementary teacher for Broadway in Central Valley School District, I developed a K-2 blended/extended resource program. The extended resource program provides core instruction, interventions and targeted instruction to students in a variety of settings. Previously, I co-taught with a general education teacher in a fully integrated kindergarten class (12 students in general education and 10 students with IEP’s) for three years. I provided effective classroom and behavior management, group and individualized lessons, classroom supports and integration opportunities.
As a member of various committees, I interacted with teams and students throughout the school. On the guided reading team, I wrote and was awarded a grant to revive and expand the guided reading resource library. As a student study team member, we provided strategic academic supports for targeted students; in addition, I was a member of both the PBIS team and the PIT crew (Positive Intervention Team), which provides strategic social and behavioral supports. Additionally, I was an active member of the district’s Special Education Advisory Committee and the Preschool to Kindergarten transition
