The Winchester Mystery House has a very interesting background. The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California, 525 South Winchester Boulevard, was built by Sarah Winchester ( Winchester Mystery House). The Winchester House was known for many things, including, the ghosts, the way it was built, and the famous, crazy, lady that owned and built the house (The Bizarre History of California’s Winchester Mystery House). Sarah started building the house because she went to a medium who was supposedly channeling her dead husband. The medium said that Sarah needed to build enough rooms for all of the souls of people who’d been killed with the Winchester Rifles. An earthquake in 1906 destroyed her 7 story house, and now the house is only 4 stories high. The only time construction stopped was briefly after the 1906 earthquake, which trapped Sarah in a room for several hours, and she slept in a different room every night, so that made it hard for the construction workers to find her.
