Wings is a famous 1927 American Silent war film set during the First world war. It is most known for being the first best picture film winner at the academy awards. The movie was released by Paramount Pictures with a budget of 2 million dollars and was shot in Texas for over a year. The film was produced by Lucien Hubbard and directed by William A Wellman. Wellman is a famous American director during the early years of movies. He worked on many other films many of them being war films with many of his other films being nominated and winning other Academy awards for films such as The High and the Mighty, The Story of GI Joe, and Battleground The screenwriters were Hope Loring and Louis D Lighten. The movies main stars are Clara Bow's, Charles Rogers, and Richard Arleen. Bow plays Mary Preston, who is the girl next door love interest in Charles Rogers Character. Clara Bow performance of Mary is really exceptional. She embodies the idea of the newly liberated women of the 1920s being both unique but relatable. Conversely, the other lead Charles Rogers, who plays Jack Powel a mechanic later turned ace pilot, he initially just works on his car and tries to gain the affection of another love interest Sylvia played by Jobyna Ralston who love interest of David. Wings had some incredible cinematography for its time. The movie shows off some great dogs fight, especially the latter half of the film with ending spectacle as well as some well-shot land battles as well. Wings were one of the earliest Hollywood blockbuster movies with a large budget, big scope and lots of action.
