Freedom Summer, or the Mississippi Summer Project, was a volunteer campaign launched in June 1964 to attempt to register as many African-American voters as possible in Mississippi, which had historically excluded most blacks from voting. The project also set up dozens of Freedom Schools throughout Mississippi to aid the local black population. The projects leadership and funding came from the SNCC and COFO, along with hundreds of white college students in the north. In 1963, the SNCC organized a mock vote for blacks, which gave them a chance to prove they were capable of understanding politics. The civil rights activists from both organizations and the white volunteers from the north faced many challenges during the campaign.

18 Days Of Christmas On December 7, 1941 two large squadrons of Japanese planes appeared in the skies north of Oahu, Hawaii (Sheehan 6). The attack, which was totally unexpected and planned by a mastermind by the name of Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, was a perfect success. On this heroic day, thousands of heroes were born. According to Ed Sheehan in his book Days of ’41, the final toll was, 1,143 wounded and 2,341 Americans killed (6).
The freedom summer, also known as the Mississippi Summer project, was the nonviolent attempt for a voter registration drive organized by a series of civil rights organizations, those including Congress on Racial Equality (CORE), the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). This historical event took place in Mississippi in the summer of 1964. The main focus of this project was, as mention earlier, the voter registration drive, which intended to gather as many colored Mississippians to join the electoral register. But as suspected, may of this registration were denied by the officials, which was a callous act of injustice. As a result, the organizers formed

In the spring of my freshman year, I was faced with something I had never faced before. I either had to choose my friends and spring break or basketball. I loved basketball, but at the same time, I realized that freshman year was the year to make a lot of friends. All I had heard in the past month was my friends talking about Spring Break. I knew that basketball would take place every single weekend until August 1st.

Many arguments about changing the school calendar are for year round school. Readers are only gaining knowledge on the one sided benefits of the year round schedule. The year round calendar consists of school days throughout the whole year. Normally, the year round schedule goes forty-five days to school then fifteen days on vacation. Another common track is sixty on twenty off (“Year-Round Education Program Guide.”)
I have the standard set of beliefs as most people; don’t do anything illegal or to harm anyone, be a decent person, help those who need it. However, I’ve struggled most with the old adage of “treat others as you want to be treated”. It seemed simple enough to me as a child, and thus I began to do just as the age-old advice said. In most instances I have gotten what I’ve expected in return. My grades reflect my efforts at school, the treatment of me by my sister was indicative of how many names I had called her that day.
At Last, I’m A Senior Senior year has by far been the craziest, scariest, and most important year of my life. Many people imagine senior year to be laid back and care free; so far, it has been everything but that. Senior year consists of trial and error and is full of surprises (a great deal of surprises). It is full of late nights and taking chances. Can that homework assignment wait until tomorrow?
Junior year was a bit challenging for me. It was not challenging because of the work, but I joined a career program. I had to keep up with both of my schools. For me to be successful with so many things going on, I had to stay organized and think ahead. My success was that I kept all my grades above a C+.
Marisol Lopez B4 English III H January 26, 2015 Semester Research Report Freedom Through Music When the word slavery first goes through our mind we imagine the blood in their back, the hard work in their hands, and the way they were shipped to America. Now, imagine asking any African slave from the South what it must have been like to be a slave. They would say that it was the worst thing any human being in the world could go through.
People enjoy the story of Santa Clause, because it makes them feel good. Putting “In the Bleak Midwinter” and “Santa Clause is Coming to Town” right next to each other allows for that connection of the jolliness of Santa Clause and the desolation of the
