Wisconsin-Madison ranks as one of the most successful public universities in the nation. With an innovative vision, the actuarial science program was implemented sixty years ago, a program that most universities just added to their curriculum. This university's rich history of successful professionals inspires me to become part of the institution. To make my goal a reality, a university that provides academic excellence, connections for internships and co-ops, and professors engaged in research is something extremely critical when deciding which college I want to go to. Because Wisconsin-Madison meets these personal requirements, and exceeds what I look for, it would be a perfect home while doing my undergraduate and graduate degree. Throughout the years, I've realized that I enjoy extracurricular activities, especially the ones I organize. Since I am a rising freshman, I began to do research in different fields like Computer Science, Bio-Statistics, and Bio-Mathematics. This has brought me countless of opportunities, including a research program for undergraduates this summer in North Carolina State University. They conferred me the opportunity because of my research work during the last six semesters and two summers. I presented all of those investigations at symposiums in Puerto Rico and the United States on several occasions. Unfortunately, the program was discontinued due to lack of funds, but it is definitely an activity I want to take part since my freshman year in college. My goal is to start doing research on my first semester and continue to participate in these programs during summers as an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates).
