Wk1 Assignment 2 – Font Foundry/Type Designer Research Paper In 1984, a famous advertisement aired during that years Super Bowl. That advertisement was for the brand new (at that time) Apple Macintosh home computer. This full 60-second ad only ran once on national television during Super Bowl 38 (Hiltsik). This was the start of what would be an amazing future for Apple. However, this is not all that started in 1984. A team of people, who became known as The Emigre team, jumped on the new digital age bandwagon at that same time (Emigre Fonts). The exposure of these typefaces in Emigre magazine eventually lead to the creation of Emigre Fonts, one of the first independent type foundries utilizing personal computer technology for the design and distribution of fonts.
