A Doll’s House is written by Henrik Ibsen and published in 1879. This is the play which portrays how the bourgeoisie women dealt with the anxieties and lives in Victorian Norway. The main theme of this play is feminism. Ibsen makes many implications about the roles of society and how female gender was treated at that time. From this play, it can be observed what the writer believe about the roles of the society, the equality of men and females and the idea of feminism. In this essay, it is going to analyze how this play link with feminism. It concerns about the feminist theory behind the marriage life of Nora and Torvald. The essay also studies about the gender of the social roles and the equality between men and women. Nora is the best explanation of the perplexed woman, It portrays that she trapped in her life then escapes from the mood of joy to depression. She lives in a society where the female are oppressed and reduced to a mere doll and plaything by the male. It shows that they are living in the patriarchal culture society.
