Women Silenced Every year, an estimated 15 million women are married worldwide, with little or no say in the matter, according to City Vision University. You may have known already that this occurs in other countries often, but did you know that this sort of thing occurs every, single day in our own country? Men are always placed above men on the social hierarchy. Why? Because that’s the way it’s always been. Even in the workforce, men are payed a significant amount more than women are. Meg’s longtime best friend, Cody, looks into her death as Meg wasn’t suicidal and Cody doesn’t understand why Meg killed herself. She finds information for a man named Ben McCallister in an e-mail. She then tracks him down. “ ‘What happened? I ask. ‘Did you get bored with her? Is that what happens with you and girls? It’s a failure of imagination, because if you had gotten to know her at all, you would never have gotten tired of her.” I mean, she was Meg Garcia, and who the hell are you, Ben McCallister, to tell her to leave you alone?’ “ In the e-mail, Ben tells Meg to leave him alone, after Meg had sent him many emails about her everyday life, and she had the right to. She dated Ben and wanted to keep him updated when they couldn’t see each other. However, according to the e-mails that Cody finds, it’s obvious that Ben only used her because of her intelligence and had his eye on other girls. This leads Meg to have to find other people to talk to, which leads her to a suicide-support group, the kind that encourages you to commit suicide.
