Recommended: Impact of gender in sports

Women's hockey is played up to to a college level, but there is no professional level. Why? There are 35 D1 women's hockey teams in the NCAA. The only chance for them after college is playing in the Olympics. Girls can play hockey in their childhood and fall in love with it, and become very good at it. Sadly as an adult there are very few hockey chances for women. Many people think that women's hockey isn't physical. Once you watch women’s hockey and realize how physical women’s hockey is it’s very entertaining to watch. I think that we should consider making a Professional Women's Hockey League.

Women can be as good as athletes as men. First of all, girls/women with a healthy diet and daily exercise can stay fit and strong, no matter what …show more content…

If they are really good they can play up to a college level, but after college the only option is the Olympics which is every four years. Many people watch hockey because of the checking, fights, and high speed. What people don't realize is that women's hockey is very fast paced, and aggressive on both defense and offense. Obviously, women's hockey is just as entertaining as men's hockey. Which would appeal to the same audience or maybe even more.

Many people think that women aren't built to play contact sports, and that they will get easily injured. First of all, if a women’s hockey league was created it would be women vs. women instead of women vs. men. Secondly, if a player is going too hard on a player or being too physical they can get a penalty. Also, if a player is playing very physically, and gets many penalties they can be kicked out of a game or be suspended for many games. Clearly, women being injured while playing hockey shouldn’t be people's biggest worries.
As you can see, there are many things that support a Professional Women’s Hockey League. Over the years, women have been able to do things they never did in the past, so I hope that this is something I see in my lifetime. I don’t think women should play in the NHL, but we deserve our own league. The WNBA has been successful, and the competition is good, many people go to the games, and they are exciting to
