Before Europeans even knew of the Americas there were Indians. The Indians had diverse cultures and conflicts with each other. There were hundreds of different groups of Indians. Most hated each other and killed each other. Some sought to get beyond murder and cannibalism.
Surprisingly, Native American women had more freedom than the white women in the Chesapeake, Middle Colonies, or New England region. Some Native American women were given rights such as controlling land, political power, marriage and divorce in choice. There were matrilineal kinship system, in fact, marriage was not the most top rite of passage for them. While reading about American history the thing that I found most appealing was the limited rights that women had during this era. Although women gave the early settlers longer life expectancy and brought hope to their future, women still were not considered equal to a man. Women were discriminated against and didn’t play an important role in early American history. Generally, women had fewer legal rights and career opportunity than men because they were considered weak and not able to perform certain tasks. Different women came from different ethnic backgrounds and were all created equal in the eyes of men.
Women played a key role in the abolitionist movement that had worked to bring an end to slavery. Many northern women,began by opposing slavery because they had become politically, informed,organized this contributed to their efforts the abolishment of slavery. At the time of 1868, women weren’t allowed to be employment were restricted, they received unequal pay compared to men, they weren’t allowed to commit fornication or extreme abuse. When discussing how the human race came to be there are numerous stories that speak of the beginning of the Earth. Two popular tales are the one of the Iroquois and the Christian story of Adam and Eve. Although these stories are relatively the same, when analyzed further the similarities and differences become clear. Both contain strengths that the other is lacking in.
Women have played an important role throughout history but haven’t really been credited as much as they really should have been. Although women haven’t usually been in a position of power (because they were not allowed to be in a that position), they have still done a lot to contribute in crucial ways. T In Latin America the political situation is different from other parts of the world due to natural resources, size, and lack of consistent government. It is traditional for the woman to be the natural back bone of every family but the women in Latin America did not have a lot of rights. They did have a role but, they didn 't have a lot of respect from the people in the community. I think most women faced the same problems but, they had advantages because they had commonalities of what they knew such as to make things like clothes, help out in family farms and they helped create children of course. One of the best people I can use for an example is Eva Peron who did in fact have several advantages over men.
Women saw the rebirth of culture, art, literature, philosophy. They experienced that just like men. A lot of noble women were able to rule.
They controlled all decision making. Just like men had expectations for women, men had to gain a woman's respect before they got married. They were also independent and had more freedom than women. That meant they got to have a job, in fact supporting the family was a sign of true success to a man. Along with supporting the family, being able to succeed financially made a man respectable or honorable by other men.
