The novel Wonder by R.J Palacio is simply thought-provoking. It was published on the 14th of
February in 2012 by Random House Children’s Publishers UK. It is a 311-page book. The main character is a young boy named August Pullman who has facial deformities. And, that is something all readers must take from this story; how strong Auggie really is. At the age of ten, this boy has been through what almost everyone would never even think about going through. He has had twenty-seven operations, been homeschooled till he was nine, gotten nasty glares from almost everywhere he went, had to wear an astronaut helmet for a portion of his life because he didn’t like the rotten looks from society. ‘There are so many words I can use to describe the look on people’s faces.’ - Olivia Pullman, Page 84.
Auggie states that Halloween is his favorite holiday because he can wear a mask and hide his face. I get to go around like every other kid with a mask and nobody thinks I look weird.’ - August Pullman, Page
