In a short summary, this is what happened after World War I. Woodrow Wilson created his Fourteen Points which was established to reconstruct the countries after the destruction of WWI. Since the war cost a whole load of money, many countries reached an economic depression, which reduced interdependence. Also, the establishment of the Fourteen Points led to the creation of The League of Nations. Although the League of Nations did seem like a good idea at the time, there were many issues with this system. For starters, the United States, who was the leading power at the time, never joined the League. Then, by the time the Soviet Union joined, Germany and Japan had withdrawn.
