The Woodstock Music and Arts Fair took place in the summer of 1969, on a farm in upstate New York. It marked the beginning of a countercultural revolution, one that we still see in today’s society. The festival, also known as an Aquarian Exposition, included “three days of peace and music” in the midst of difficult times for America, as the war in Vietnam raged on. Woodstock hosted some of the world’s top musicians at the concert and, although it was hugely criticized for representing everything “wrong” about the cultural change of the sixties: “sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll”, it really was symbolic of the countercultural revolution.
