One’s own self-perception is an important factor of communication, but the way we perceive other people paves the way we live. Sometimes our perception of another person can be wrong, or prejudged. This doesn’t make us a bad person or cruel, it just means we need to take the time to get to know a person before assuming things. A prime example of this is using stereotypes. While many people find this to be a horrible thing, we don’t realize that it happens every day. It’s in our minds, whenever we look at someone. We look at their sex, their hair, their clothes, shoes, make-up, skin, and we make assumptions about them. We don’t mean to or intend any harm by it, it just comes naturally.
