First the Prime Minister of New Zealand starts her speech with an opening sequence in the language of the indigenous people of Aoteroa, New Zealand. By doing so, Ardern does not only grab the audience‘s attention by using a language that the majority of them is not familiar with, but also honors the indigenous people, as they are the first ones to live on the island New Zealand.
