This study examined the relationship between workplace humour styles and emotional labour in tertiary institutions in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. That there is a significant relationship between self-enhancing human and emotional labour, given that the evidence from the study indicates that occasions which reflect self-enhancement such as coping with depression through humour, laughing at ones predicament as well as joking about oneself; were observed to impact on emotional labour and fostered events and activities related to surface and deep acting within the target organizations. iii. That there is a significant relationship between aggressive humour styles and emotional labour, this is as instances in which aggressive humour is manifested in forms such as joking about the predicament of co-workers, outright ridicule of co-workers and making fun of serious situations, was observed to affect emotional labour, resulting in changes in surface and deep acting in the target institutions. iv.
