1. While most believe that the assassination of the Arch-Duke Francis Ferdinand was the sole event that caused the out break of World War I, there were many other underlying events that created the trouble between the major European powers. (section 25-1, Spielvogel). One of the major underlying causes was nationalism. While most thought that every nationality having their own nation-state would help people get along it did nothing but cause even more competition.
As mentioned in Napoleons’ Button (Couteur and Burreson, 2003), ever since the discovery of penicillin, wound infection declines, saving plenty of lives, especially during the World War 2. The rapid advancement of drugs has indeed come a long way and even revolutionized the world. Drugs such as paracetemol helps to subside one’s fever and provide pain relief. On the other hand, drugs that are widely used illegally such as cocaine would be detrimental to one’s personal health when consumed. In any case, the mere existence of drugs is good in nature.

It was not uncommon for women at this time to work in factories with many working in ammunition factories. The women who worked in the ammunition factories played an important role in the war effort by doing some of the most important work (Kim). These women worked extremely hard and it was argued that they put their lives in danger almost as much as the men enlisted in the war. They worked long shifts, typically 10-12 hours a day, working with highly-explosive materials (Munitions Factories). Most, if not all, factory jobs required women to operate machinery which was heavy and dangerous, causing many injuries.

During the War of 1812 there were two naval battles that were important to the outcome of the war. Both battles took place in freshwater far away from the ocean and the more well known single ship duels between the United States frigates and the British ships, and both had a lasting impact on the war. The first was the Battle of Lake Erie on September 10, 1813 under the command of Oliver Hazard Perry five schooners, three brigs and a sloop captured and defeated two ships, two schooners, a brig and a sloop of the Royal Navy at Put-in-Bay in Lake Erie off the coast of Ohio. Hitler was the main aggressor during 1939 who everyone appeased to, who is infamously known for his rise to power, his persecution of Jews, and his attacks on the world to dominate, that killed so many. Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister, believed in the policy of appeasement and appeased Hitler at the Munich Conference which eventually lead to the start of World War II. The Western Powers responded to aggression with appeasement, and in 1939 the world was plunged into World War II, proving to the world that collective security is a better response to aggression. Hitler’s aggression was the main reason why Allied powers felt the need to appease. In 1930, after the Reichstag fire, Adolf Hitler rose to power because he was appointed

The war of 1812 is known as the “The Forgotten War” even though there were many important things about this war. In this paper, I am going to discuss, the role of Andrew Jackson, how prisoners were dealt with in this war, the Battle of Baltimore, and the Treaty of Ghent. The Treaty of Ghent is the treaty that ended the War of 1812. Andrew Jackson said, “You must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing.” This paper is all based on the War of 1812, first I will talk about Andrew Jackson and how he was established as a national hero, then how prisoners were dealt with and how each side differed, third I will talk about the Battle of Baltimore, and lastly I will tell you about the Treaty of Ghent and its importance.
The Seven Years’ War For the first half of the eightieth century, Britain was at war with Spain or France. The colonist in America often experienced reverberations during these conflicts. In 1754 tensions returned and this time they sparked near America’s Ohio Valley, land variously claimed by the Virginians, Pennsylvanians, and the French, which was inhabited by dozens of Indian tribes.
The forces that led Americans to declare war on Britain in 1812 were impressment of american sailors, problems with the natives, and the War Hawks. Impressment is the kidnapping American Sailors and forcing them to serve in the British Navy. Although the problems with the natives were obviously the americans’ fault, the settlers blamed the British for supplying them weapons and inciting them to attack. Then there are these western politicians who wanted war so that they can gain the Canadian territory. Americans didn’t declare war on just these three causes, but they were the main causes that pushed for this war.
D.A.R. Project The Seven Years War (1756-63) finished the drawn out rivalry between France and Britain over control of North America. Succeeding in the war resulted with the British being in incredible debt. Seeing that the American colonists had the most gain from the war, the British felt that the Americans should be responsible for some of the war’s cost. Another result of the war was Britain putting boundaries on imports and exports. The Sugar Act of 1764 enforced taxes on sugar and other goods shortly thereafter.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians, written by Rick Riordan and published in 2005. An amazing series that blended mythology, romance, and humor. Later, the first two books were turned into movies: Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief as well as Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. Both movies grossed over $430 million and had many good reviews but the fans of the original series, myself included, were sorely disappointed. I did not enjoy the movies and I know that the book adaptations were much better than the movie adaptations.
