World War I Was one of the bloodiest wars ever. World War I was a war fought in Europe between Germany, Russia, France, Great Britain, and the United States and many others. World War I was ultimately started with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. The indirect causes were more significant to the outbreak of WWI than any direct cause. There are several causes that forced Europe into the “Great War” such as militarism,alliance systems, imperialism,and militarism.
World War I, or the Great War, was a major international conflict that began in 1914, that was fought between the Central and Allied Powers—the main countries in the Central Powers being Germany, the Ottoman Empire, and Austria-Hungary, while the main countries in the Allied Powers were France, Great Britain, and Russia. However, the United States, which didn’t take part in the war for a few years, decided not to get involved in the war and its alliance system since the war posed no danger to the U.S. It remained that way until the U.S. began to realize the effects of the war after attacks from Germany, where lives were threatened and property was destroyed. Militarism is a belief that a country should maintain a strong army which is prepared to defend its country. Countries involved in World War I believed that militarism was important for a country’s pride, success, and honor.

European tensions (the Assassination of Franz Ferdinand) really caused the war, and new advances in technology gave way to incredible combat and countless deaths. Most of these fights, however, didn’t really lead to anything, and just led to pointless fighting. But eventually the Allied Powers gained the upper hand, and the Central powers asked for a truce of sorts. This led the Allies to come together and try to craft something to make everyone happy.
The Great War, or the First World War, was a global fight centered in Europe from 1914 to 1918. This disastrous war was established because of one small, yet direct incident in Austria-Hungary. As well as this , there were indirect incidents leading up to this event that heated the tension between the European countries. The ideas of imperialism, militarism, the Alliance system and nationalism, were the beginning causes; the perfect ingredients to stir up the pressure.
In July 28, 1914 to November 11,1918 World War 1 took place where over 17 million lives were lost and over 20 million wounded soldiers. This war was between Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States against Germany, and Austria-Hungary. The main cause of World War 1 was militarism where many European countries kept increasing their size of their army and navy without a war going on. World War 1 or also known as ‘The Great War’, was an worldwide conflict from 1914 to 1918. A big cause for the war was imperialism. The war was fought between the Central powers ( Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey) and the Allied cause (France, Great Britain, and later U.S.) U.S. remained neutral and sold goods to both sides until 1917, U.S. then later declared war on Germany for many reasons. The contributions from U.S. to the Allied Cause helped turn the course of the war.

As a result, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia and other European nations joined in. Women had many roles like persuading their husband to take part in the war, becoming nurses to aid for the injured soldiers, and taking care of their family.

After the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, countries were left angry and frustrated; and America, though not as injured as those countries friendly with her, sat just as shell-shocked as others. For nations all over the world, the reality of the Great War affected economies and family units, debt was high and many families had lost loved ones. In America, battle deaths in World War I totaled over 55,000, with another 63,000 dying during military service, leaving the family structure challenged and changed. For children surviving this period, World War II would take on a different connotation as they, now as adults, faced their own responsibilities in a precarious and wounded world.
World War I (WWI) and World War II (WWII) had many causes. They also had many devastating effects on the world. They both have one main similarity and difference for both the causes and effects of the wars. The main similarity in the causes of both wars was imperialism, but the main difference was that WWII had appeasement; the main similarity in the effects of both wars was that there were many political tensions leftover that caused another war, but the main difference was that after WWII, the United Nations (UN) was created.
World War I was one of the most important moments in history. Many events between the countries of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Serbia, France, England, and Belgium caused World War I. The United States entered the war later. During this time in history, almost all the nations in the world were allies with one another.
World War I brought many changes to society and to foreign policy. For example, women were at work when men were out fighting the war. Germany did many things to make the USA to enter the war after being threaten by Germany. In World War I we were very isolated to other countries. I will be talking about these three topics today.
