World War II is arguably the deadliest conflict in history, exceeding over fifty million fatalities, out of the one hundred million people involved from over 30 countries over the course of six years (1939-1945). The start of World War II, also known as the Second World War, began when Nazi Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. During the time frame from 1939 until 1941, Germany occupied many parts of Europe and North Africa. This period in time is often referred to as “Hitler’s war”, since he was in control of most everything that had or would occur.
