Would Athia Have A Mixed Economy

As of 2018 numerous types of economies exist throughout the world, most of which are not only one type but a mix of the two most basic types of economies being a command economy, or a free market/ capitalist economy. If a nation named Athia were to exist it would have a mixed economy, incorporating the positive aspects of a command, and free market economies into one.

Firstly, a command economy theoretically is one in which the government determines what goods should be produced, how they are produced, the number of goods, and the pricing of both the goods and labor (such as minimum wage). There are no exact rules as to how a mixed economy functions as the spectrum of how much government control is permitted, and the extent varies based on the given nation. If Athia was a real country it would have a mixed economy. In this mixed economy government control would extend to the point in which it would provide local works such as roads, stop lights, sidewalks etc. and protection including law enforcement, a militia, and a justice system. A conscription will also be set for all men that can be completed from the ages 18-21. The conscription will only include a local military training camp, however after completing the camp the option to fight overseas (given there is a conflict), will be available. Also whilst in training, a minimum wage will be given. The conscription does not apply to those with jobs or attending some form of education. A minimal healthcare plan and public schools will also be supplied. However private enterprises would exist, and those with more money would be able to pay for a better quality of goods, such as private schools, or better healthcare plans. Few regulations would surround businesses. Only those to protect both animals, and the population would exist. Examples of what this entails includes but is not limited to, minimum wage, suitable working conditions which, animal rights (livestock conditions, animal testing), regulations surrounding the protection of the environment (pollution rates ), and regulations protecting the speed, and quantity of use of natural non-renewable resources (such as fossil fuels), and regulations around food (chemicals, GMO’s). The whole population will pay a standardized low tax that strictly funds public works, as well as another tax known as the “welfare tax”.
